Valextra Icons: The Closeup

Valextra’s icons of urban craft are engineered to meet every demand and destination with ergonomic details that raise the game and can be relied on. In the first instalment of the Valextra Review, we explain the what, the where, the when and the why behind our most sought-after constructions.

THE ISIDE

What? Our icon of urban craft – sober yet sophisticated and ready to take on the world.

Where? Milano by day; Firenze by night; Roma for the weekend, and wherever your next trip takes you.

When? The Medium Iside by day (it has space for tech, wallets, sunglasses cases, headphones and a notebook); the Mini for aperitivo (phone, wallet, compact); the Micro to go dancing (that shoulder strap comes in very useful); and the Iside Belt bag for all the times in between.

Why? Finding a positive tension between its Minimalist silhouette and beautiful construction, it speaks volumes without saying a word.

THE TRIC TRAC

What? Our icon of present continuous design and engineering beauty – the original Valextra handbag takes its name from the sound it makes when it is pulled open and snapped shut.

Where? Just as when it was introduced (inspired by a box that taxi drivers used to put their belongings),  this is a bag for around town. Its central compartment snaps open for essentials, while its back pocket has a notepad for life’s everyday messages.

When? All day, every day, always. The original Tric Trac has a smaller counterpart, the Tric Trac Nano, for the times when you need to carry less, but always want your outfit to deliver more.

Why? A recognised design icon since it was first introduced in 1968, the Tric Trac is an immediately identifiable symbol of exquisite craft and Milanese sophistication.

SMALL LEATHER GOODS

What? Valextra’s esteemed collection of wallets, purses, pouches, and cases in every colour that have stayed as contemporary in spirit as they are ergonomic in construction.

Where? In your handbag, backpack, and clutch, around the body, and in your back pocket whether socialising, commuting, or travelling further afield.

When? Our continental purses and compact wallets when you need to carry everything in one place, our phone pouches with lanyards when your running errands, our glasses cases for spectacles and sunglasses (whatever the weather), and our keyholders and phone cases to strike a discerning note on the move.

Why? Valextra’s small leather goods have always responded to the demands of modern living – from the original Tallone and the Grip wallets to the addition of phone pouches and headphone cases with lanyards. Intricately constructed and finessed with our handpainted Costa and Inchiostro lines, they imbue a subtle statement.
