“Perfect construction, the use of top quality materials and functional efficiency combine in this briefcase with a useful innovation: besides the compartment for papers and work materials there is an ingeniously separated space for clothing. The “1954 Compasso d’Oro of la Rinascente” awards the inventive brilliance behind this elegant design and excellent product, the prototype of what shall certainly become an essential item of modern luggage for years to come. This prize also aims to reward a manufacturer that has demonstrated consistent style and quality over time.”
This was the official decree with which, in 1954, the Compasso d’Oro prize was awarded to the Valextra overnight briefcase “24 ore”.
Created by Valextra founder, Giovanni Fontana the “24 hour”briefcase has come to mean executive bag, small but versatile enough to hold documents together with overnight essentials. The true innovation: a detachable portfolio hiding a zipped compartment, which allows the carrier to remove documents without disclosing the full contents of the bag. A modern piece characterised by high quality workmanship as well as ingenious design.
Interior lining in leather and silver hardware.
The signature “Costa” lacquered ink piping has been hand applied several times to the sheared edges and buffed to finish the piece.
Internally, a monogrammed serial number identifies the Artisan that has followed the creation process rendering this Valextra piece unique.
