“VALEXTRA is about Milanese history and heritage, and the cultural relationship between a historic brand and a city.” For Massimo Alba, his collaboration is something more than just fashion. “Kindness is the most important thing that we have, and everyone keeps forgetting that. That’s why I decided to use the fabric from my best coats in my VALEXTRA Serie S, and that’s also why I’ve put so many personal hidden details that are meaningful to me as a gift to the person who’s going to buy the bag.”

“For me VALEXTRA is the missing link between fashion and design,” he says. “I’ve always looked up to them. I even decided to buy my store in Via Brera because it has the same rounded windows as the VALEXTRA store I visited so many times in San Babila”.

MASSIMO ALBA’S BIO: Massimo Alba’s career began as a designer and creative director for several influential Italian brands. In the mid-eighties he created the brands Ever Clean and 97 rue des Mimosas which became known for their innovative product and brand image. In 1987 Malo acquired Ever Clean and 97 rue des Mimosas and Massimo became the Creative Director (1988-1999). He designed and developed a new brand and product concept, and was responsible for all collections, showrooms and stores. Then in 2000 he became Creative Director and relaunched Agnona. In 2002 Dawson International approached Massimo to develop the Ballantyne brand. Again, he designed and developed the product, style and collections as well as the integrated communication strategy across showrooms, stores and advertising. In 2003 Charme Investments, Alfredo Canessa and Massimo Alba acquired Ballantyne. Massimo Alba stayed on as Creative Director until 2006 when he first registered the Massimo Alba brand. To this day, that first 350 square meter space in Milano’s Naviglio area, via Corsico 8, represents the soul of the brand. The first store opened in Milano, Via Brera 8, then in 2014 he recreated his concept store inside Rome’s historical Palazzo Lacellotti. In 2017, the first seasonal store opened in Sestri Levante, Liguria, followed by Bellagio and Taormina. US distribution is with CD Network with Gruppo Vulpe distributing in Scandinavia. Unstructured tailoring, exclusive fabrics and the use of natural chemical-free pigments in the garment dying process and finishes characterize Massimo Alba’s collections. Massimo Alba’s boutiques reflect his attention and study of details as well as his personal connection to objects and memories from his world travels.
